“Enigma of Being Awake” is a 2016 American independent film starring SAMANIA (Samira Mahboub + Ania Catherine).
A rebellious 13-year old girl empties spray cans across Cairo and Berlin writing personal, yet conscientiously radical epigrams. Young Charlie Ali tags as an anonymous juvenile figure, “AMAR” (“Qamar” القمر = Moon) and dreams to move to the fine art capital of the world, NYC.
Fast forward – 2015. Egyptian-German artist Charlie, 27, lives in Brooklyn, NY. While touring the U.S. with her latest exhibition, Charlie meets an irresistible choreographer named Lux Bernal. The encounter of these two souls changes Charlie forever.
