The cult movie with a ground-breaking lesbian love storyline, I Can’t Think Straight has launched a crowdfunding campaign to become a web series that aims to push the boundaries of the web format.
Acclaimed writer and director Shamim Sarif and producer Hanan Kattan are answering requests from fans of the feature film by raising money to produce I Can’t Think Straight as a web series. Kattan and Sarif’s own true love story inspired the film and drew on their cultural backgrounds. read more

The Real L Word is getting a third round on Showtime, and expanding to New York City. Nine new episodes of the lesbian docu-reality show (which the network is describing as “controversial” for some reason) will air in early 2012. While the first two seasons focused on a group of women in Los Angeles, season 3 expands to include characters in New York City with plans to contrast the East Coast vs. West Coast lifestyles of its cast. read more »

According to Deadline.com, HBO is developing the lesbian family comedy-drama The Kids Are All Right into an hour-long series. Director Lisa Cholodenko, who cowrote and directed the Oscar-nominated feature, will write the pilot based on the five main characters from the film. read more

A lesbian actress who starred in “The L-Word” said she kissed a girl — and got escorted off of a Southwest Airlines flight on Monday for doing it.
Leisha Hailey took to Twitter to call for a boycott of the carrier after a flight attendant told them other passengers had complained after witnessing the affection.
Her first tweet said: “I have been discriminated against.” She later added, “Since when is showing affection to someone you love illegal?”
Southwest Airlines Co. responded on its website that Hailey was approached “based solely on behavior and not gender.” The airline’s four-sentence response said passengers were characterizing the behavior as excessive. continue »

The Playboy Club Starring Amber Heard will involve LGBT themes. The character of Alice, who is one of the Playboy Bunnies in the series, is a lesbian who is married to a gay man. Alice is played by Leah Renee (see photograph) while Sean, the husband, is played by Firefly’s Sean Maher. The series will, apparently, deal with their marriage of convenience as well as meetings set at the Mattachine Society, which is a real LGBT rights organiztion. read more

Longtime best friends Tatiana von Furstenberg (daughter of fashion legend Diana von Furstenberg) and Francesca Gregorini (daughter of former Bond girl Barbara Bach and businessman Augusto Gregorini, and the stepdaughter of Beatles drummer Ringo Starr) spent years swapping scandalous tales of their own English boarding school days.
